In our April 1997 issue (Health Devices 26[4]), we evaluated eight ESU-pencil-based smoke evacuation wands. For this issue, we have updated that study. We evaluated two new units and tested a redesigned version of one of the units from 1997. We also report on an additional unit that we didn't test but whose performance is comparable to that of a previously evaluated unit. We found the newly evaluated units to be Acceptable.
