Gastrointestinal propulsion after abdominal surgery is impaired during the postoperative phase. Adrenalectomy as well as only adrenal demedullation prevented the impairment of gastric emptying and small bowel propulsion after laparotomy. In non-laparotomized rats gastric evacuation was significantly increased after adrenalectomy and adrenal demedullation. The results indicate that adrenomedullary activity retards gastrointestinal propulsion not only postoperatively but even in intact rats.
腹部手术后胃肠道推进功能在术后阶段会受到损害。肾上腺切除术以及仅进行肾上腺髓质剥除术可预防剖腹术后胃排空和小肠推进功能的损害。在未进行剖腹手术的大鼠中，肾上腺切除术后和肾上腺髓质剥除术后胃排空显著增加。结果表明，肾上腺髓质活性不仅在术后会延缓胃肠道推进，甚至在完整大鼠中也是如此。
