We investigated the effect of low temperature on von Willbrand factor (vWF) of endothelial cells (EC) and the importance of low temperature in thrombogensis. We used the immunocytochemistry staining and image analysis system to study the expression of vWF of cultured human umbilical vein endothelial cells in low (33 degrees C) and normal (37 degrees C) temperature conditions. The expression of von Willbrand factor of EC was higher in low temperature than in normal temperature (P < 0.001). The low temperature plays an important role in thrombogensis.
