[Topographic distribution of mitosis in the lower incisor and 1st molar in the mouse embryo].

The analysis of serial frontal sections of lower mandibular arches of 14 to 18 days old mice embryos allowed the study of the pattern of mitosis in the incisor and the first molar. A very clear dissociation between the values of the mitotic index of the internal and external dental epithelia was observed. The high mitotic activity of the inner dental epithelium was considered as playing a very important role during the growth of these teeth.
