Abstract
AIMS
To assess the effectiveness of enucleation or evisceration in relieving pain from painful blind eyes.
METHODS
24 patients with intractable ocular pain underwent enucleation or evisceration with or without an orbital implant.
RESULTS
Complete pain relief was achieved in all patients at an average time of 3 months (range 1-15 months). Seven patients required further medical or surgical treatment in addition to removal of the globe.
CONCLUSION
Enucleation and evisceration were effective in relieving ocular pain in all patients with a painful blind eye in our study. However, complications of surgery and orbital implants can cause recurrent pain.
摘要
目的
评估眼球摘除术或眼内容剜出术缓解疼痛性盲眼疼痛的有效性。
方法
24例顽固性眼痛患者接受了眼球摘除术或眼内容剜出术，术中使用或未使用眼眶植入物。
结果
所有患者均实现了完全疼痛缓解，平均时间为3个月（范围1 - 15个月）。7例患者除眼球摘除外还需要进一步的药物或手术治疗。
结论
在我们的研究中，眼球摘除术和眼内容剜出术对所有疼痛性盲眼患者缓解眼痛均有效。然而，手术和眼眶植入物的并发症可能导致疼痛复发。
