To evaluate the effect of permanent occlusion of the hepatic artery on the efficacy of transarterial chemoembolization (TACE) in an animal model.
12 days after inoculation of the Morris hepatoma 3924 A in 15 male ACI rats, TACE with Mitomycin C (0.25 mg/kgBW) + Lipiodol (0.2 ml/kgBW) without (n = 5) and with permanent occlusion of the hepatic artery (n = 5) was performed. Control group consisted of 5 rats. Tumor volume was determined by MRI (1.0 T, T1 [TR/TE, 400/14 ms]) before and 12 days after therapy.
Compared to the control group, TACE without and with permanent occlusion of the hepatic artery showed a significant reduced tumor growth after 12 days (p = 0.017 and p = 0.005). However, permanent occlusion did not improve the retarding effect on tumor growth (p = 0.9).
The effectiveness of TACE in an animal model using a cytostatic-/lipiodol-emulsion is not improved by permanent occlusion of the hepatic artery.

给15只雄性ACI大鼠接种Morris肝癌3924 A,12天后,对其中5只大鼠进行丝裂霉素C(0.25 mg/kg体重)+碘油(0.2 ml/kg体重)的TACE且不进行肝动脉永久性闭塞,对另外5只大鼠进行丝裂霉素C(0.25 mg/kg体重)+碘油(0.2 ml/kg体重)的TACE并进行肝动脉永久性闭塞。对照组由5只大鼠组成。在治疗前及治疗后12天通过磁共振成像(1.0 T,T1加权像[重复时间/回波时间,400/14 ms])测定肿瘤体积。
与对照组相比,未进行肝动脉永久性闭塞及进行了肝动脉永久性闭塞的TACE组在12天后肿瘤生长均显著减缓(p = 0.017和p = 0.005)。然而,肝动脉永久性闭塞并未增强对肿瘤生长的抑制作用(p = 0.9)。
在使用细胞毒性药物/碘油乳剂的动物模型中,肝动脉永久性闭塞并不能提高TACE的疗效。
