[Cognitive training: prospects and limitations of the new form of rehabilitation in schizophrenia].

The impressive developments in research on disturbances of information processing in schizophrenia initiated the effort directed toward correction of these deficits. Studies on cognitive rehabilitation have generated some promising findings regarding the improvements in patients' cognitive and clinical status. However, there are important questions concerning strategies of cognitive training that must be addressed before its large-scale application in rehabilitation programs for schizophrenic patients.
