A group of 14 patients, in whom gallbladder carcinoma was detected accidentally in histopathological examinations, after cholecystectomy due to cholelithiasis, was analyzed, comparing the macroscopic evaluation of excised gallbladders with microscopic examinations. The only common macroscopic feature was thickening of gallbladders' walls, which is insufficient to suspect carcinoma in preoperative and operative examinations.
