To investigate the role of the pedicle in the survival of the subdermal vascular network skin flap.
The subdermal vascular network skin flap was created on the back of the rat in the experimental group. The subdermal vascular network skin graft was made at the same position of the rat in the control group. The ratio of length to width of the flap was 4:1. The observation was carried out with naked eyes and instrument. Hair growing on the flap was one of the most important indexes of the observation.
It was observed in 116 animals that the proximal 25 percent of the flap possessed regular colour and well-growing hair.
The pedicle of the subdermal vascular network skin flap in the rat can supply 25 percent of the whole flap.
