The literatures about the adverse reaction (AR) of traditional Chinese medicine from 1915 to 1996 in China and some recent reports abroad were reviewed. The principal causes of the AR of traditional Chinese medicine were summarized and some corresponding preventive countermeasures were put forward. The principal causes of this problem were overdosage and drug abuse. The key problem to be solved is to adhere to "treatment according to syndrome differentiation" and the rational administration of traditional Chinese medicine.
回顾了1915年至1996年中国有关中药不良反应的文献以及国外近期的一些报道。总结了中药不良反应的主要原因，并提出了相应的预防对策。该问题的主要原因是用药过量和药物滥用。需要解决的关键问题是坚持“辨证论治”和合理使用中药。
