When Röntgen had discovered the X-ray, in the end of 1895, the practical application was obvious. Technology and equipment was relatively simple. The technology was brought to Sweden and Stockholm already in the spring of 1896 by the initiative of Dr Theodor Stenbäck. By the arrangement of Dr Per Söderbaum an X-ray apparatus was introduced at the hospital in Falun in 1899. This study discusses the individual initiative, how an idea arises, and describes the different decisions, the delivery of the apparatus, installation and early use--until it disappears from the inventory in 1912.
