This paper analyzes the development of medicine in Antillas during the former years of America's colonization, studying the connection between physicians and quacks, quo the establishment of a board of royal physicians in Española and the Cuban islands. It also deals with general problems about Antilla's hospitals, as its financing means, its philanthropical feature and the creation of the main medical centers.
