[Surgical treatment of breast cancer (author's transl)].

We compared the healing rates of 387 patients with breast cancer, 203 of them had been treated with the extensive operation technique of Halsted, 184 with a simple mastectomy. Both groups had a x-ray treatment after the operation. Our controls 3, 5 and 10 years after the operation showed, that the healing results of the radically operated patients were better. The complication-rate of the radical operations was not more elevated compared with the conservative more ones.
