Seminal vesicle cysts are rare diseases and frequently cause no symptoms. An acquired giant seminal vesicle cyst in a 73-year-old man is presented. Bladder outlet obstruction was the main complaint, mimicking that arising from the prostate.
Ultrasonography and computed tomography revealed a well-defined, homogeneous, retrovesical cystic mass. Urinary tract was normal.
A CT-guided drainage of the cystic mass was performed and urinary symptoms disappeared. The cystic mass recurred at 6 months' follow-up. Treatment was by surgery, which confirmed the seminal vesicle origin of the cyst.
Acquired seminal vesicle cysts may cause bladder outlet obstruction.
