In normal conditions, the threshold depressor effects of the aortal nerve were shown to be stronger than its threshold pressor effects during stimulation of both the hypothalamic pressor points and the pressor areas of the bulbar vaso-motor center. Mono- and polymodal neurons as related to excitation of pressor areas of the posterior hypothalamus and the aortal deressor nerve were revealed in a number of structures of the medulla oblongata cardio-vascular center. The convergent neurons are supposed to determine the output of antagonistic pressor and depressor interrelationships at the level of the medulla oblongata neurons.
