The epidermal growth factor (EGF) can be isolated from the submaxillary gland of the adult male mouse as part of a high molecular weight complex (HMW-EGF). This complex can be reversibly dissociated into its subunits, EGF AND EGF-binding protein, an arginine esteropeptidase (Taylor, J. M., Cohen, S., and Mitchell, W. M. (1970) Proc. Natl. Acad. Sci. U.
