To investigate the diagnosis and management of the benign mesenchymoma in pharynx-esophagus.
Records of 2 cases with the benign mesenchymoma, arising from the pharynx-esophagus, were reviewed.
These tumors, their pedicle attached to the lateral pharynx or esophageal orifice and the body fall down to the esophagus, were large and solitary. Complete surgical resection is believed to be the most suitable treatment by lateral pharyngotomy.
The benign mesenchymoma in pharynx-esophagus is a rare disease which might be misdiagnosis. Diagnosis is based on typical histologic features as well as clinical information. The prognosis is favorable.
