Lipofuscin is believed to be the last product of lipid peroxidation. Elevated serum lipofuscin in chronic renal insufficiency and in multiple organ failure after major surgery has been detected.
To compare serum lipofuscin level after renal transplantation with hemodialysed patients and healthy adults.
Lipofuscin has been determined according to Tsuchida with Roumen's modification and expressed in arbitrary units (u.), in serum of 56 healthy adults, 11 renal transplant recipients and nine hemodialysed patients. Blood was collected before hemodialysis in uremic patients, or within 24 h after renal transplantation.
Serum lipofuscin in hemodialysed patients and renal recipients was significantly higher about 80% and 180% respectively, comparing to healthy adults.
Elevated serum lipofuscin levels after renal transplantations show high oxidative stress due to several mechanisms of lipid peroxidation in this group of patients.

采用经鲁门改良的土田法测定脂褐素,以任意单位(u.)表示,检测了56名健康成年人、11名肾移植受者及9名血液透析患者血清中的脂褐素。尿毒症患者在血液透析前采血,肾移植患者在术后24小时内采血。
与健康成年人相比,血液透析患者和肾移植受者血清脂褐素分别显著升高约80%和180%。
肾移植后血清脂褐素水平升高表明该组患者因多种脂质过氧化机制而存在高氧化应激。
