A 6 month study in rats fed a balanced diet containing 3,2 p. 100 tannic acid resulted in a marked decrease of the hepatic concentration of vitamin A. In an other study, rats were fed vitamin A deficient diets containing 0, 0,8, 1,6 and 3,2 p. 100 tannic acid. There was no effect of tannic acid on the hepatic concentrations of vitamin A determined on days 20, 40 and 60.
