The recent progress in some spectrum methods on the structures of metal phthalocyanine was introduced. IR and UV/Vis spectral properties of phthalocyanine were presented systematically, especially the effect of the types, numbers and positions of the peripheral substituted groups as well as the different aggregation states in solution on the UV/Vis spectra, the characterization method of the isomers of tetra-substituted metal-phthalocyanine by NMR was also discussed.
