Gastrointestinal fistulas present a difficult problem to solve for the surgeons. Inspite of the recent progresses in diagnostic and therapeutic modalities, morbidity and mortality rates are still high. In this paper, we present our experiences on the postoperative gastrointestinal fistulas. We postulate that it is always better to prevent fistula formation rather than to cure it.
