Histopathology of some carcinomatous and pseudocarcinomatous aspects of the thyroid.

The authors studied the histopathology of some true carcinomatous and pseudocarcinomatous aspects of the thyroid. Some peculiar aspects occuring after therapy with thyreostatics are underlined: papillary structures, giant polymorphous, hyperchromic or light vesicular nuclei. These lesions are not to be confused with true neoplastic pictures. The criteria in discriminating between thyroid adenoma and follicular adenocarcinoma are also discussed.
