Abstract
Two experiments were run on 10 lovebirds to test the reinforcing effect of the social call in an operant conditioning task. In the first experiment, the reinforced behavior (perching) which provoked the occurence of the call decreased. In the second experiment, where the same behavior stopped the continuous emission of the call, the behavior increased. This behavior may results from an avoidance to the call recorded from a lovebird which do not belong to the group of our experimental birds.
