Three daily sessions of inescapable footshock stress of 30 min duration each increased the sensitivity of the isolated pacemaker of the rat to the chronotropic effect of isoprenaline. 2. The effect of inescapable footshock stress on the sensitivity of the isolated rat pacemaker to the chronotropic effect of isoprenaline was prevented by the daily administration of the compound RU-38486, a potent antiglucocorticoid which blocks the cytosolic receptor for corticosterone. 3. The administration of the compound RU-28362, a potent agonist of the cytosolic receptor for corticosterone, during 3 days to rats which were not submitted to footshock stress induces supersensitivity to the chronotropic effect of isoprenaline. 4. It is concluded that corticosterone plays an important role in the qualitative control of the rat pacemaker beta-adrenoceptor population during adaptation to repeated footshock stress.

每天进行三次、每次持续30分钟的不可逃避足部电击应激，会增加大鼠离体起搏器对异丙肾上腺素变时作用的敏感性。2. 每天给予化合物RU - 38486（一种强效抗糖皮质激素，可阻断皮质酮的胞质受体），可防止不可逃避足部电击应激对大鼠离体起搏器对异丙肾上腺素变时作用敏感性的影响。3. 对未遭受足部电击应激的大鼠连续3天给予化合物RU - 28362（一种皮质酮胞质受体的强效激动剂），会诱导其对异丙肾上腺素的变时作用产生超敏反应。4. 由此得出结论，在适应反复足部电击应激的过程中，皮质酮在大鼠起搏器β - 肾上腺素能受体群体的定性控制中起重要作用。
