The evolution of videosystems for medical endoscopy from the black-and-white TV units to the systems with PPD matrices is outlined; there is also an outlook for their further promotion. Data on the development of endoscopy systems by the "Electron" Research-and-Production Company (Saint-Petersburg) are presented as an example.
