Abstract

Trichosporon beigelii is an emerging pathogen, often resistant to amphotericin B, that causes disseminated infection in immunocompromised patients. Early identification of this organism and knowledge of sensitivity patterns to antifungal agents may decrease the high mortality rate for immunocompromised patients with disseminated trichosporosis. I have reported a case of septicemia associated with T beigelii in a premature twin infant who had been granulocytopenic since birth.
