Abstract
Child psychiatry is increasingly focusing on early identification of children at risk and the importance of prevention. Our review attempts to summarize recent studies regarding risk and protective factors in children and address the areas of difficulty inherent in this type of research. Recommendations for future research study design will be discussed.
