[Aging--a growing challenge for us all].

The problem of an ever increasing overaging of the population presents a challenge to both science and politics. The author has chosen three particular aspects of this problem: (1) Aging and being old--a biological reality, (2) aging and growing old--a social burden and challenge to society, (3) reflections on old age and therapeutic programs. The study finishes with a "praise of old age".
