Mild acid degradation of the lipopolysaccharide of Citrobacter youngae O9, strain PCM 1538 released a homopolysaccharide of 4-acetamido-4,6-dideoxy-D-mannose (D-Rha4NAc, N-acetyl-D-perosamine).
