Abstract

PURPOSE

In a previous study, we showed that the new and fast sequence 3-dimensional (3D)-fast asymmetric spin-echo sequencing could be applied in magnetic resonance (MR) sialographic 3D reconstruction imaging of the parotid gland ducts and in producing virtual endoscopic views of the parotid gland with MR data.

MATERIALS AND METHODS

In the present study, we examined the clinical application of these MR sialographic 3D reconstruction imaging and virtual endoscopy of the salivary gland ducts using MR data sets with 3D-fast asymmetric spin-echo sequencing.

RESULTS

The MR sialographic 3D reconstruction images showed a complete view in the branch paths from all angles, and the MR virtual endoscopic views showed conditions in the endoluminal tracts of the large branches in 20 patients with salivary gland duct abnormalities, including Sjögren syndrome, cyst, tumor, sialadenitis, and salivary calculi.

CONCLUSION

The clinical use of MR sialographic 3D reconstruction imaging and MR virtual endoscopy for salivary gland ducts may enhance understanding of the 3D relationship between the ducts and the surrounding tissue, as well as the endoluminal circumstance within ducts. Possible future applications abound, and further investigation in this field is expected.

目的

在之前的一项研究中,我们表明新的快速序列三维(3D)快速不对称自旋回波序列可应用于腮腺导管的磁共振(MR)涎管造影三维重建成像,并利用MR数据生成腮腺的虚拟内镜视图。

材料与方法

结果

MR涎管造影三维重建图像从各个角度完整显示了分支路径,MR虚拟内镜视图显示了20例唾液腺导管异常患者(包括干燥综合征、囊肿、肿瘤、涎腺炎和涎石病)大分支腔内的情况。

结论

MR涎管造影三维重建成像和MR唾液腺导管虚拟内镜检查的临床应用可能会增强对导管与周围组织之间三维关系以及导管内腔内情况的理解。未来可能的应用很多,预计该领域将进一步开展研究。
