Hungarian gerontological research has deep roots. Since the publication of the first Hungarian treaty on geriatrics in 1692 several works have been published by Hungarian scientists. Organised research in the field of gerontology started in 1954 by the foundation of Gerontological Committee of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. The author summarizes the following landmarks in gerontology:- The set up of organizations in the field of gerontology.- The foundation of research institutions and their scientific and educational work.- International relationships by organizing international congresses in Hungary, offices and honours of Hungarian scientists in international organizations.- And finally proposals for future development.
匈牙利老年学研究有着深厚的根基。自1692年第一部匈牙利老年医学条约出版以来，匈牙利科学家已发表了多部著作。老年学领域的有组织研究始于1954年匈牙利科学院老年学委员会的成立。作者总结了老年学领域的以下标志性事件： - 老年学领域组织的设立。 - 研究机构的建立及其科研与教育工作。 - 通过在匈牙利举办国际大会建立的国际关系、匈牙利科学家在国际组织中的职位与荣誉。 - 最后是对未来发展的建议。
