The morbidity and mortality data of mature newborns born in the 2nd University Hospital of Obstetrics and Gynecology of the Semmelweis Medical University have been worked up during a ten year period, together with the corresponding data of outborn mature babies. The author examines the characteristics of the morbidity and mortality data of outborn and inborn newborns alike. The development of the mature newborn mortality and its participation in the overall neonatal mortality have also been investigated. The conclusions are summarized in the end of the article emphasizing the actuality and significance of the subjects.
