The current and projected demand for nurses and nursing services worldwide, coupled with dramatic changes in the delivery of health care, require nurses with more knowledge, more education, and more skills. Issues facing nursing require a reconceptualization of the approach and expectations for nursing practice and for the educational models and processes that lead to reformed nursing practice. New initiatives such as the Clinical Nurse Leader and the Doctor of Nursing Practice may lead the transformational process that is needed.
全球范围内对护士及护理服务当前和预计的需求，再加上医疗保健服务提供方面的巨大变化，都要求护士具备更多知识、接受更多教育并掌握更多技能。护理领域面临的问题需要重新构想护理实践以及通向改革后的护理实践的教育模式和过程的方法与期望。诸如临床护理领导者和护理实践博士等新举措可能引领所需的变革进程。
