As many as 41 children aged 3 to 14 years with nocturnal fears were examined. As shown by observations, the majority of nocturnal fears are of mixed nature, i.e. they have both epileptic and neurotic characteristics at a time. None of the symptoms analyzed may be regarded as absolute to prove the epileptic genesis of nocturnal fears. Clinico-electroencephalographic correlations revealed a direct relationship between the number of the clinical symptoms providing evidence in favour of epilepsy and changes on the EEG.
