The hydrophobic nature of drugs, very important feature in determination of biological activity, is in Hansch's approach characterized by the logarithm of partition coefficient (log P) determined in n-octanol -water system, or calculated from hydrophobic constants pi (Hansch) or f (Rekker). Those as well as other parameters of hydrophobicity (log k'w, RMw or chi-connectivity index) were correlated with the spasmolytic and cytostatic activity of some coumarins.
