The influence of estradiol and of two electron donors (succinate and malate) on testosterone metabolism was studied in vitro. In presence of estradiol the metabolic pattern of testosterone in male liver was changed to a female pattern. On the contrary, addition of malate or succinate to the female liver incubate gave origin to polar metabolites of testosterone which are typical of the male metabolic pattern.
