[The Takotsubo syndrome--a psychosomatic cardiac complication?].

This is a report on three postmenopausal women who presented with an acute coronary syndrome. The ECG and cardiac serum markers were supportive of the suspected diagnosis of myocardial infarction. A coronary angiography excluded the presence of macroangiopathy. Levocardiography revealed apical ballooning of the left ventricle. These findings are consistent with the recently described Takotsubo syndrome--and acute, presumably neurogenic, cardiomyopathy.
