The author has studied induced aggregation of platelets in 62 patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and in 66 healthy volunteers. Most patients with systemic lupus erythematosus had signs of the activation of platelets expressed in the rise of the degree of ADP and adrenali-induced aggregation, shortening of lag-phase of collagen-induced aggregation. 24% of patients with SLE were found to have decreased ADP induced aggregation of platelets while adrenalin and collagen induced aggregation remained practically unchanged. The degree of ADP and collagen induced aggregation of platelets in patients with SLE correlated with an amount of anti phospholipid antibodies and was not in dependence on activity of inflammatory process.
