[Pieter Muntendam, second 'editor-in-chief' of the Dutch Journal of Medicine 1900-1927].

Pieter Muntendam (1867-1927), ophthalmologist, was the second managing editor of the Nederlandsch Tijdschrift voor Geneeskunde for over 25 years, starting in 1900, alongside the first managing editors, M. Straub, H. Burger and G. van Rijnberk successively. Actually, Muntendam ran the secretariat. He was a modest person who preferred staying in the background; nevertheless, he made a significant and lasting mark on the Journal thanks to his predilection for the use of proper language.
