Phosphotungstic acid forms salt type ionic association complexes with a large number of medicinal drugs that contain cation forming proton acceptor moieties.
Ranitidine, nizatidine and famotidine complexes with phosphotungstic acid were synthesized and subsequently characterized by their melting point, water solubility, specific absorbance, UV spectra and IR spectra.
These sparingly soluble complexes were applied for the fabrication of membrane selective electrodes for quantitative potentiometric determination of ranitidine, nizatidine and famotidine.
