Recently the problems of the hard-of-hearing have been receiving more attention. Laboratories for proper treatment and diagnosis are being developed. The Army and Navy rehabilitation centers have made great strides in the advancement of the problems of selecting hearing aids and training in their use. Hearing aids have improved greatly since the advent of the midget vacuum tube. Newer and better models are continually being produced. Fitting of aids to an audiogram is not practical as yet. Bone conduction oscillators are inefficient and seldom indicated. The conduction type of hearing impairment does not usually present much of a problem as far as selection of an aid is concerned. Anyone who has difficulty in hearing ordinary conversation should think seriously of wearing an aid.
