Nurse educators focus on the competencies of graduates and the outcomes of undergraduate education. A capstone, the integrative end-of-program experience in the major, allows students to synthesize their learning with a focus toward their future practices and shows achievement of curriculum goals. The authors describe a capstone experience for the nursing major, proposing mechanisms for developing and evaluating a capstone in the baccalaureate nursing curriculum.
