[Discussion on the methods for English translation of traditional Chinese medicine].

To discuss the principles, methods and laws for English translation of terminologies in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) basic theories. The author suggested that the word-formation laws of medical English should be explored in referring to the historical experience of medical word-formation by way of retrieving Chinese and foreign literature concerning TCM English translation, and applied in the English translation of TCM terms. The program for English translation of TCM should be multiple method, the principle for word chosen should be concise and chastening, thus to gradually make the English translation of TCM terms standardized.
