Twenty-eight consecutive patients with enchondromas in the hand skeleton had simple curettage of the tumor without bone grafting. The patients were followed-up with a radiologic examination mean six years (range from 0.5 to 16 years) after operation. Results were classified according to the amount of new bone formed in the cavity left after curettage. Results in fifteen patients with excellent bone formation were classified as grade one, in nine patients with good bone formation as grade two, and in four patients with scanty bone formation as grade three. There were no patients without new bone formation (grade four), nor were there any recurrences or postoperative fractures in this series. We conclude that simple curettage without bone grafting is a safe and effective treatment of enchondromas in the hand.
28例手部骨骼内生软骨瘤患者接受了单纯肿瘤刮除术，未进行骨移植。术后对患者进行了影像学随访，平均随访时间为6年（范围为0.5至16年）。根据刮除术后腔内形成的新骨量对结果进行分类。15例新骨形成良好的患者被归类为一级，9例新骨形成较好的患者被归类为二级，4例新骨形成较少的患者被归类为三级。本系列中没有新骨未形成的患者（四级），也没有复发或术后骨折的情况。我们得出结论，单纯刮除术不进行骨移植是治疗手部内生软骨瘤的一种安全有效的方法。
