Decreased sexual function commonly occurs with aging but should not be considered a normal event. This article discusses normal physiologic changes and the pathologic events that can lead to erectile difficulties. Proper evaluation can lead to a more appropriate choice of therapeutic agent or device and can benefit the quality of life of the older man and his partner.
