Competition between private health insurers (PKV) and statutory health insurance funds (GKV) in Germany is far from being perfect, but the advantages resulting from the duality between PKV and GKV for the insured outweigh its disadvantages. Germany is the only country in the world where two systems compete for the best health insurance services and offer actual alternatives. They represent two different ways of funding leading into one common healthcare system. The dual structure stabilizes and enhances the medical infrastructure for all insured individuals alike. The rules of competition however can only take effect if the particularities of the two system are maintained and not mixed up.
德国私人健康保险公司（PKV）与法定健康保险基金（GKV）之间的竞争远非完美，但PKV和GKV之间的二元性给被保险人带来的优势超过了其劣势。德国是世界上唯一一个两个体系争夺最佳健康保险服务并提供实际选择的国家。它们代表了两种不同的筹资方式，共同构成一个统一的医疗体系。这种双重结构稳定并加强了所有被保险人的医疗基础设施。然而，只有在维持两个体系的特殊性且不混淆的情况下，竞争规则才能生效。
