The skeletal maturity of Japanese children aged 0--18 years in Tokyo was compared with that of British children by the TW2 method. The skeletal age was the same as or less than the chronological age until 8 years. Thereafter, it was in advance of chronological age until 18 years in boys and 15 years in girls. The hand and wrist bones completed maturation about the same time in both Japanese and British children, at the age of 18 years in boys and 16 years in girls.
