Abstract

Metalation of a bis(N(2)O(2)) macrocyclic ligand 1 with nickel(II) acetate afforded a dinuclear metallohost 2, resulting in a significant enhancement of recognition ability of alkali metal ions and the promotion of self-aggregation.
