With the growing number of individuals 65 and older, there is now a greater need for geriatric rehabilitation. Candidates for rehabilitation need to be evaluated prior to treatment. It is then that appropriate rehabilitation can be instituted and patients returned home at their highest functional level. This article describes the evaluation process used for patients considering geriatric rehabilitation placement. Case studies are used as descriptive examples.
