Protease activated receptor-2 has been reported to promote the proliferation of colorectal cancer cells. The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship of protease activated receptor-2 expression to clinicopathologic factors to clarify its role in tumor progression and patient survival in human colorectal cancer.
Immunohistochemical staining with anti-protease activated receptor-2 antibody was carried out and evaluated on samples from 295 patients with colorectal cancer obtained during surgical treatment at Kangnam St. Mary's Hospital, Seoul, Republic of Korea. Medical records were reviewed and relationships between immunostaining and clinicopathologic findings were evaluated.
Positive staining for protease activated receptor-2 was observed in samples from 100 patients (33.9%). Expression of protease activated receptor-2 was significantly associated with depth of tumor invasion (P = .013), liver metastasis (P = .008), TNM stage (P = .009), and tumor location (P = .011). However, protease activated receptor-2 expression did not significantly correlate with overall survival of patients and was not a significant negative prognostic factor for survival in univariate or multivariate analyses.
The expression of protease activated receptor-2 is related to tumor invasion and metastasis in human colorectal cancer. However, further studies are needed to clarify the role of protease activated receptor-2 in the prognosis of patients with colorectal cancer.
已报道蛋白酶激活受体-2(protease activated receptor-2,PAR-2)可促进结直肠癌细胞增殖。本研究旨在探讨 PAR-2 表达与临床病理因素的关系,以阐明其在人结直肠癌肿瘤进展和患者生存中的作用。
采用抗 PAR-2 抗体进行免疫组织化学染色,并对韩国首尔江南圣玛丽医院手术治疗的 295 例结直肠癌患者的样本进行评估。回顾了病历,并评估了免疫染色与临床病理发现之间的关系。
在 100 例患者(33.9%)的样本中观察到 PAR-2 阳性染色。PAR-2 的表达与肿瘤浸润深度(P =.013)、肝转移(P =.008)、TNM 分期(P =.009)和肿瘤位置(P =.011)显著相关。然而,PAR-2 表达与患者的总生存时间无显著相关性,且在单因素和多因素分析中均不是生存的显著负预后因素。
PAR-2 的表达与人类结直肠癌的肿瘤侵袭和转移有关。然而,需要进一步的研究来阐明 PAR-2 在结直肠癌患者预后中的作用。
